Malaysian Economic Convention 2015
Call for Papers and Participation
The Malaysian Economic Convention 2015, jointly organized by the Malaysian Economic Association (MEA) and the Faculty of Economics and Administration (FEA), University of Malaya, will be held on 28-29 September 2015. . Information on hotel accommodation is being finalized and will be forthcoming together with conference registration information.
The theme of the Convention is “Financial Governance and Economic Growth”. The context for elaboration of this theme is ASEAN economic integration, with the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community this year as an important milestone. This focus encapsulates the intersection of three major themes – financial governance, economic growth, and ASEAN economic integration. The sub-themes in the convention program are:
- Development of financial markets
- Finance and market intelligence
- Finance and trade
- Finance and social welfare
The objective of this convention is to bring together academics, professionals, scholars, policymakers, practitioners, and graduate students to exchange and share their research outcomes, innovative ideas, and experiences on any topics related to the main conference theme.
The Organizing Committee invites theoretical, empirical and policy papers on the above sub-themes, including but not limited to the following sub-topics : Islamic Finance, Managing Capital Flows, Intra-ASEAN Trade, ASEAN Trade with the rest of the World, especially China, Healthcare Financing and Old Age Protection.

Paper Submission Guidelines
An abstract should consist of a write-up not exceeding 200 words, contact details of all authors, and up to five key words and JEL classifications.
A full paper for submission must be in English and should not exceed 30 pages (font: Times New Roman; spacing 1.5 lines) including diagrams, figures, tables, etc. Selected papers will be published by the Malaysian Journal of Economic Studies. The Journal, founded in 1963, is abstracted/indexed in ABI/Inform, EBSCOhost, EconLit, e-JEL, Informit, JEL on CD, and Scopus.

The registration fee is as follows:
MEA members RM550
Non-MEA members RM650
Students RM200 (not inclusive of Conference Dinner)
The registration fee includes attendance to all sessions, conference materials, program book, name tag, certificate of presentation and attendance, lunches and coffee breaks, and conference dinner (additional RM170 for students). The registration fee is waived for all paper presenters.
Venue / Accommodation
Information on hotel accommodation is being finalized and will be forthcoming together with conference registration information.
Registration will be opened on 20 April 2015 on the Conference website : http://www.pem.org.my/announcement.html. All participants of the Conference are expected to register and pay either by bank transfer facilities or by cheque to PERSATUAN EKONOMI MALAYSIA, CIMB Berhad, University of Malaya Branch, Account Number 8001279279, SWIFT CODE cibbmykl.
